Question: My girl friend is 30 years old. She is finishing her period this week. Several times this week while driving, she has had a loss of consciousness, memory loss, and vision issues. She pulled over one time and said she was seeing 2 cars at once when there was only one. I saw her drift into the left XXXXXXX and she corrected it after I was yelling at her over the cell phone. She has no memory of doing that. She is sleep deprived at the moment as well. her 7 year old daughter has some kind of mild seizure disorder that is under control with medication. She also has angioedemia. She has a MRI of the brain on Monday.

Brief Answer:
This could be due to some seizure episode.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for using ask a doctor service.

I can understand your concern. She has shown multiple episodes of loss of consciousness, amnesia to events happened during that period. First thing that should be ruled out is any seizure episode. Genralised seizure could be a possibility.

Her MRI will be done on Monday and this should rule out anything serious. EEG should also be done to rule out any epileptic spikes. If EEG and MRI come normal then sleepm EEG should be done. You should get her evaluation done and everything will be alright.

Thanks
