My Heart Rate Regularly Runs 105-110 Beats Per Minute. I
Question: My heart rate regularly runs 105-110 beats per minute. I am a 69 year old male. I have a pacemaker. But, I never took heart medicine until after my last knee replacement surgery. The surgery resulted in anemia which the doctor said would go away. It did not. I presently take diltiazem er 240 and losartan 50mg. My bp is ok..around 130/75. My pulse runs high. I went to the gym today. I hit 140 with moderate walking. My doctor says not to worry about my heart rate. The info I read says high pulse wears down the heart. Should I press my doc to re-address this situation?

For this reason, I recommend checking again your complete blood count, your thyroid hormone levels and blood electrolytes.
Treatment of anemia is necessary, if it is still present as you refer.
It is also important discussing with your doctor if the heart rhythm is regular (normal sinus tachycardia) or irregular.
In case of normal sinus rhythm, there is nothing to worry about.

Did I get the right information from you that said as long as my heart was in normal rhythmn, heart rate is of no concern? If there is, howver, a cxoncern: Is there a medication to lower the heart rate. Also, I need to have a medication with minimal sexual side effects as blood pressure medication can make this aspect of my life difficult.
