Brief Answer:
Hormone imbalance is the most likely cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

During heavy exercise and also during stress, hormone levels are disturbed. This can lead to irregular menstrual cycles.

Ofcourse, if you are sexually active simultaneously without protection, pregnancy must be excluded.

In the current scenario, I would suggest a proper clinical evaluation, a trans vaginal sonogram, blood counts and urinalysis. If everything is fine and pregnancy is excluded, you can use hormones to induce a period. A single course should be enough to set your cycles back on track.

Hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

Your blood counts are within normal range.

To detect pregnancy, you can get the home pregnancy test done using a fresh early morning sample of urine or get the estimation of serum beta-hCG titers. A trans-vaginal sonogram is of very good help for further clarification.

Hope this answers your query. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

I had already taken the home pregnancy test a couple of times.. there was only one line and was negative. The other line was slightly visible but not dark like the other the last time. Should I do urine test (hcg ) or is it just an irregular periods.. I have experienced irregularities even before

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing again.

Though you have had irregular periods in the past, it is better to exclude any pelvic condition through the sonogram. If you want to exclude pregnancy conclusively, please go for the blood test.

To go for the induction of period, it is necessary to eliminate pregnancy and pelvic causes.

Hope this helps.

Shanti.V.
