Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.

Firstly, I would like to know what is the frequency of your menstrual cycle. If you have 30-day cycle, you have to exclude/confirm pregnancy through the urine test and follow up with a sonogram.

If pregnancy is positive, brownish discharge could mean a deficiency of hormone or an unhealthy pregnancy which needs to be attended.

If pregnancy is negative, this brownish discharge is likely to be a breakthrough bleeding due to abnormal hormone levels. This needs correction with hormone therapy and follow up.

I would ask you to see a gynecologist for evaluation and plan further management.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

regards,
Shanti.V.

Brief Answer:
Please get appropriate consultation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing again.

It is mostly common for the bleeding to be heavier than normal when the period is delayed. However, I think you should have a proper consultation as you are planning to conceive. This helps to rule out any hormone imbalance and plan further management.

Heavy bleeding can be controlled to some extent by using styptics for not more than five days. Hormones are necessary for controlling heavier bleeding not responding to styptics. Please maintain proper genital hygiene.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please feel free to contact for any more information.

regards,
Shanti.V.
