Question: My left elbow; 2 days ago, was stiff and hurt when I used it. Yesterday I noticed it was swollen, but was not as stiff and painful as 2 days ago. Today is the same as yesterday.
I am 63 years old and am very physically active, biking, walking, and swimming daily.

It appears that your elbow is swollen due to possible arthritis or it could be due to trauma. Since you haven't had any clear history of trauma it is most likely due to arthritis.

Have you ever had gout or rheumatoid arthritis?

It would be a good idea to get an x-ray of the elbow and also some blood tests like Uric acid and full blood count to rule out arthritis and its causes.
