My Legs And Arms Feel Tired. Its Not Like I

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Jan 2020
Question: My legs and arms feel tired. Its not like I am not able to raise my arm or have trouble lifting anything. It just feels like its bit fatigued. I also have random minor twitches in both my arms and legs ( all random). I do get them while sitting down or resting. I am seeing a doctor for my thoracicspine issue, where in a physio therapist is helping me out with exercises. The issue started like a week ago and its still there, it hasn't got worse. I also, get some pains in my calf (again random). I also, have some minor stiffness in my feet both of them.

I have a vitamin D3 deficiency and started a supplement for the same since yesterday.

My question : Is this sign of some neurological thing like MS or ALS, do I need to see a neurologist for the same? I spoke to my Physio Therapist, and he was like does not sound like its due to my spine but he did say the tissue around the spine could be causing the trouble.

Brief Answer:
There is no need to see a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query. I have noted the clinical details. Based on that, your symptoms are not suggestive of any serious neurological illness, including ALS or MS. The symptoms are most likely due to benign fasciculations syndrome (BFS). The symptoms of BFS do get worse with anxiety and lack of sleep. There is no need to see a neurologist, and it would get better on own.

Best wishes,

My twitching has got better but its still there but very mild. Does the twitching improve in case of motor disease?

Also, do you think the twitching is due to my spine issue?

Dr, since evening today, I have been having pulse sensation in both my feet(mostly left). I saw it move up and down couple of times, feels like heartbeat not sure if that’s twitching. The minor twitching else where stopped now it’s going on continuous in my left foot.

I am very afraid that this could be a mnd. No other symptoms apart from the pulse sensation or not sure it that’s twitching

Brief Answer:
For safety, you could visit a neurologist.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

I have noted the additional details. In MND, symptoms would not improve, so, you are unlikely to be suffering from MND, if you are getting better.

For safety, you could visit a neurologist.

One follow up with MND, the symptoms won’t stop and come back and will be consistent right rather than being random?

Also, twitching will be accompanied by muscle wasting or weakness like always right?

Brief Answer:
You are right.

Detailed Answer:
In MND, there would be wasting (thinning of muscles) and weakness. The symptoms would continue to get worse over time in people with MND.

Your symptoms do not indicate anything serious.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

Your symptoms do not indicate anything serious.

In MND, the patient notices weakness and wasting of one limb (mostly the hand), which progresses over months. Twitching is noted later, and in some cases, patients do not notice it. They are discovered by the neurologist on examination.

Twitching does not go away in MND.

Back muscle pain and stiffness can be treated with physiotherapy and exercises and is not due to any serious disease.

So just based on my symptoms does it anywhere indicate anything serious?

What would MND look like in terms of symptoms? Does twitching come first followed by muscle wasting or muscle weakness or they come together or muscle wasting comes 1st followed by twitching?

Will the twitching go away when doing some activity with MND??

I am able to run and jump, the only thing is I feel something in my back and my muscles to be stiff when doing so. But I can walk briskly.

Sorry to ask all these questions?
