My Mom(62) Has Following Inconsistencies In Her Blood Reports Alkaline
Alkaline phosphate 211
Cholesterol 273
Vitamin D, 25 Hydroxy Serum 6.62 nmol/l
Hemoglobin 15.40
RDW 16.20
RBC Count 5.72
My understanding is that she has a VItamin D deficiency and Iron deficiency which is also causing Alkaline phosphate, RDW, Hemoglobin and RCB to swell. Could you please suggest how serious is this? Also would you suggest any more tests to compliment/contradict this understanding?
The reports and the treatment are explained below in details.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I already reviewed the reports of your mother.
Through the reports I can see that your mother has vitamin D deficiency.
I also see that the level of cholesterol is higher than normal range.
In my opinion, these are the two problems that should be treated with medication and diet.
So,I recommend using a vitamin D supplement.
I also recommend to start using a medication to treat the high cholesterol level, such as Atorvastatine 10 mg one tablet a day.
It is a prescription medication, so you should consult your doctor about the prescription.
I suggest to add in the diet foods that such as fish and fish oils, egg yolks, fortified milk, and beef liver.
I recommend to repeat the examinations at least every six months to see the effectiveness of the treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,
The high level of alkaline phosphatase can be related to vitamin D deficiency.
In my opinion a supplement of vitamin D and a healthy diet would bring alkaline phosphatase to normal range.
Elevated Hemoglobin, RDW, RBC can also be related to the vitamin D deficiency.
So,in my opinion, no additional treatment is needed.
Hope it helps dear.
Take care,
