My Mother Ankle Has Been Pain And Swelling For A Long From One Year Need Second Opinion

Question: My mother's ankle has been pain and swelling for a long time(around 1 year).
We tried 2-3 doctors and ortho specialists in Apollo XXXXXXX also. The treatment and medication continued for 7-8 months but we did not see any result.

We did all X-rays, blood tests, etc but DR was not able to identify and cure the problem.

What is this problem, how it can be cured, and if ortho is not the correct specialist then whom to consult? Please suggest it's been very long that she is suffering.

This seems Retrocalcaneal Bursitis

Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon.
I have read the query and seen the picture sent by you. An X ray picture would have been important information and If you have X ray picture , Please attach it.
This condition is called Retrocalcaneal Bursitis. The cause is swelling in post part of heel with or without the bony outgrowth, (called calcaneal spur).
Treatment generally consists of pain killers , hot fomentation and application of analgesic gel .
Rest of the treatment will depend on X ray picture. Local Injection of PRP or surgery may be considered depending on x rays.

I have gone through all details and seen the x rays .
There is bony protuberance at the local site but no spur posterior to calcaneus.
I suggest PRP injections. They are generally helpful in this condition.
Operation may not be required .

Should I visit an Orthopaedic specialist to get this injection?
Also, will it help cure the problem or it will reduce the pain and swelling only?
What is the cure for the long term?
