Question: My mother in law has brain benign tumor and have also undergone SRT Treatment 2months ago. She is having urine incontinence issue now and also have got so weak that she is unable to sit as well on a chair. She seems very low, have stopped responding to us much. I would like to know if its a side effect of the treatment. Please let me know what can be done to get her strength back. Also I would like to know the available elder diapers which provide the best good absorption.

Also we see that whenever we give her dexamethone 2mg tablet per day, she seems to be better. Wanted to know if it can be continued for her. Let us know if there are any side effects related to this tablet. If so please suggest any other alternative medicine either in allopathy or in naturally available items.

Firstly, 'Dignity' elder diapers are good and can be used. Further, dexamethasone is a steroid and should be used only if indicated and suggested by the doctor. It should not be used as an over the counter drug for casual use. It may cause several side effects with long term use. So, you should discuss with your treating doctor concerning its usage.

Finally, regarding your mother's condition, SRT therapy can cause side effects like extreme tiredness, dizziness, vomiting, headache; but the symptoms which you have mentioned- 'She is having urine incontinence issue now and also have got so weak that she is unable to sit as well on a chair. She seems very low, have stopped responding to us much'- can be due to several reasons like blood abnormalities and a variety of neurological reasons. I mean this much history is insufficient to say about the cause of these symptoms. For these symptoms, she should be physically examined by a neurologist.
