Brief Answer:
To help her she needs to stay at the hospital.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. Hope I can be of help for you today.

Her symptoms jaundice on skin and eyes with swelling and confusion most likely caused by liver cirrhosis and failure. She can be confused from the complication of liver failure we call Hepatic encephalopathy. To help her she needs to stay at the hospital. Doctors will do evaluation and treat the underlying cause and help to lower risk of complication and decrease fluid buildup in the belly and leg. Treat the confusion doctor will usually use lactulose ( a medicine that softens stool) or certain antibiotics to treat the confusion.

I hope that I can help you, and please let me know if you have any clarification or question about that, and I would be welcome to discuss it with you further. I Hope your son has good health.
