The neck lymph node is the size of my finger tip and its been like that for 4 or so months. I thought nothing of it until I found out I had swollen nodes in the abdomen. WBC is normal and no known infection. My nodes swell up when I get sick or drink alcohol. Very sensitive when they swell. They swell up every couple weeks. I am worried there might be something wrong with my lymphatic system?

Brief Answer:
Do lymph nodes biopsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you can redo a blood test with formula. Also you may need to get tested for Ebstain bar virus . I can recommend you to do a biopsy of the lymph nodes.
If all these blood tests and biopsy are negative then it can be idiopathic lymthadeopathy.

Hope I have answered the question.

Currently my doctor said that she is going to test for mono. Results will be in by Friday.

Doing a blood panel for blood cell count again. Normal chemicals like potassium, sodium and etc. As well as blood tests on my thyroid. She said if the blood tests come back normal for all of that then they will do an ultrasound on my node in the neck.

She thinks its mono but I never experienced any mono symptoms. However, I read you can have it and not even know?

So is the lump I had for months probably mono?

and if the blood work comes back normal. Is the ultrasound on the node a good call? If so, why an ultrasound? what does it do?

Brief Answer:
Biopsy or citology of lymph nodes is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
I think it can be mono too. You should repeat the blood test because it gives changes in blood count.
The ultrasound can show the measurements of it and also the number of the lymph nodes in that region.
If a reason isn't found yet you may need to do a citology to test or biopsy of the lymph nodes.

Thank you for all your help!
Blood work came back normal. No mono. WBC is normal. We proceeding with the ultrasound. Checking to see if its calcification or something. Or if its suspicious. Since the WBC is normal I don't think it'll be suspicious. Its probably calcium buildup or something.

Anyways, thank you!

Brief Answer:
Please see the details below.

Detailed Answer:
It is a good sign that blood tests with formula and mono tests come out normal.

I think the ultrasound may show its dimensions and consistency. I also believe that it can be a fibrotic lymph node or calcification.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
