Brief Answer:
In absence of treatment hemachromatosis, iron will deposit in organs

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Hemachromatosis is a hereditary condition wherein iron levels are high and iron gets deposited in soft tissues causing organ dysfunction.
In health, iron remains attached to hemoglobin and does not get deposited in any soft tissue.
The primary aim of treatment is to remove excess iron in body to prevent its deposition in soft tissues.
Phlebotomy removes blood from body and hence excess iron.
If the phlebotomy is not not permed, the excess iron will deposit in organs like liver, muscles, heart etc.
This will lead to organ dysfunction and if condition prevails for long, it can cause organ failure too.

If you have more queries, i will be glad to answer.
Thanks and take care
