My Question To Be Answered By Dr XXXXXXX D. Dr

Dr XXXXXXX D.
My husband suffers accute pain in chest between the 2 lungs. Pain is not continuous. A sensation like cramps; i.e. pains sometimes and ceases automatically . I have seen him pressing above the heart and extreme left side near the ribs.
No sweating,no cough, no shoulder pain.
He visited the doctor. He examined him .
His B.P.,heart bits are normal. He had done ECG a mont ago for the same reason. It was normal.
Doctor said this problem is related to stomach and not heart.
As he has a history of GERD. Even he has the throat infection,I want to ask you what type of pain isthis?
What tests to be performed?
Is it related to heart or stomach or related to muscle pain? pl answer asap. worriied a lot.
Regards,Ms. Abhyankar
Dear XXXXXXX relax, get a TMT (stress test) done. Seems to be GERD related.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thank you very much for consulting me again here.
If you could upload the ECG that was taken last month, it would be very helpful.
This chest pain he is experiencing seems to be due to GERD as one ECG done earlier has been confirmed to be normal.
However, it is always better to be on the safer side, so I suggest you to get a TreadMill Test done (TMT) or it is also called stress test.
Along with that, you can also ask for an Echocardiogram (2D echo).
Your husband has already undergone endoscopy, so it will not be very useful to do it again, however, you can do a breath urea test to see if the H Pylori infection has reoccured.
For the breath urea test, your husband must stop taking Pantoprazole or other such medicines for at least 12 days.
Oesophageal manometry is also a very useful test in your husband, as that will tell us if the lower oesophageal sphincter is lax.
The central chest pain can be related to heart or to oesophagus, acid reflux into the oesophagus irritates the oesophagus and causes burning and pain.
Please consult a gastroenterologist as well as a cardiologist and get TMT, 2D echo, Breath Urea test and Oesophageal manometry, and do upload those reports so that I can guide you further.
Looking forward to help you better.
Take care, and please do not be so worried.
Warmest regards
