Question: My recent blood test showed some low and high results. Should i be as concerned as I am about anemia and liver disease? I am being treated fro hypothyroidism and noticed that my alkaline phosphatase values have been high twice around 128 IU/L (Quest diagnostics range 38 - 126 IU/L. My RBC is low at 3.88 L (range 4.0 - 5.20 m/UL). My MCHC was low at 31.1 L (rannge 30.0 - 36.0 L). My hemoglobin was low at 11.2 (11.8 - 15.6 g/L). My CO2 low at 24L (25 - 32 mmol/L). My vitamin D low at 27L (30 - 100 ng/mL. Does this mean anemia and liver damage? I also itch a lot with no jaundice. I'm always tired and my joints ache. Last night i noticed a greenish brown freckle on my left upper arm and it freaked me out. I also have essential tremors. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Only vitamin D is significantly low.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing 'Ask A Doctor' service for your query,
I've seen your details and I appreciate your concerns.

Firstly your alkaline phosphatase is not two times but just 2I.U per liter, higher than the normal upper limit. To be significant minimum three times the upper limit elevation should be there.
All other parameters are also marginally elevated or decreased which again has no significance.
Overall all your parameters are clinically normal.

Hemoglobin 11.2 mg per dl is again almost normal.

I don't think anemia or liver is the cause of myalgia and joint ache (can be related to vitamin D which in your case is the only thing which is significantly low and you should take Vit-D3 as 60K XXXXXXX once a week for 8 weeks) in your case as you are neither anemic nor anything is wrong with liver enzymes.

Hope I was helpful.
Thank you
