Question: My recent blood work has come back normal. My a1c is 5.6. Pre diabetic. I also have hereditary hemochromotosis that is under control as it was diagnosed almost fifteen years ago and phlebotomies were started. My ferritin level is 38 per blood work in February 2019. I am concerned about the blockage, but also the reoccurring sweats which leave me drenched.

Brief Answer:
Heavy sweating not related to blockage!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blockage and the sweating. I would have appreciated you uploading the entire report for review and more insights.

69% blockage may not necessarily require surgery for correction. I will let you discuss this with your doctors; asking what the benefits and risk of this procedure are. Most importantly, are you already on statins? What prompted this carotid ultrasound examination? Any brain or stroke related symptoms?

For the heat, we need to look at your thyroid gland. As a female, this may be related to hormonal changes but must have been a long time since you became menopausal. Did you ever experience these symptoms in the past?

In all, discuss with surgeon on need for surgery but 69% doesn't mandate surgery unless there are clinical events which make this a more beneficial than risky procedure. Also, consider uploading the entire report for review. A1c is fine and I will not belabor on this.

I hope this helps and guides. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
