Brief Answer:
She will gradually recover over time.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.
I have noted the MRI reports of your sister, which shows decreased blood supply in the right side of brain. As a result, we expect left sided weakness of hand and leg. This will recover slowly over time with physiotherapy. Recovery is expected over 3-6 months.
In the very early phase (within 4.5 hours of symptom onset), clot buster treatment with actilyse can be given to dissolve the clot, however, it should not be given now.
Other than physiotherapy, she needs a blood thinner (such as clopidogrel or aspirin) and a statin (such as rosuvastatin or atorvastatin) to prevent recurrence of brain stroke, especially in the unaffected brain regions.
Any risk factors such as diabetes or high blood pressure, if present, should be adequately treated.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,
