Question: My son fell (husband dropped him) onto a hardword floor maybe 3 ft and since then I have have noticed a random cough. He is 4 months old. He wasn't have very many if any major spit ups prior to this incident and they seem more frequent now. The night of the injury I took him to the er to have him checked. They did not do any scans or anything that did a physically check and said that he would be fine but I am wondering if I should have additional test done based on whats happening. I am concerned of a brain injury. Beyond the cough he seems to be fine.

Brief Answer:
Does not seem to be a cause for concern

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that going by the description things do not appear unusual. If 'head injury' occurs, it will not be without manifestations. The main concern could be the ominous signs of head injury which are:
* Vomiting
* Severe headache (manifested by incessant cry)
* Altered consciousness or Loss of consciousness
* Convulsions

I assume that none of these have occurred. Unless any of these are present you need not worry. If any of these occur, you would need to get a CT scan of the brain done.

Give acetaminophen in case the child is irritable due to pain.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
