Question: My son had Nissan Fundiplication last November he is 21. He has had a check endoscopy after 3 months and everything was fine but he now is troubled with a constant full feeling in his stomach even when he hasn’t eaten much. He goes to the gym regularly and is under pressure as coming to the end of his degree in a few weeks .
He is very worried that he may have damaged the hiatus hernia repair so is booked to have a further endoscopy next week.
Can you help to put his mind at rest .
Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Can be a damage to blood supply.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing 'Ask a doctor' *service for your query,
Have gone through your sons details carefully. It could be a post operative complication of Nissan fundoplication called gastric necrosis. Gastric necrosis is condition which happens when the rich blood supply and the extensive submucosal vascular network of the stomach degenerates. As the blood supply is compromised there could be degeneration of nerves supplying stomach causing gastric immobility called gastroperesis.
Tests suggested
Gastric emptying test
Check endoscopy
Till then Lets keep fingers crosed
Wish him good luck.
