Question: My son has been vomiting for 5 days. He has no fever no diarrhea and seems to be fine most of the time. Anytime he eats or drinks it takes about 15 minutes before he vomits it back up.

Hi... I understand your concern.

The possibilities here could be -
1. Gastritis
2. Gastroesophageal reflux
3. Prodrome of acute watery diarrhea. This will usually start with vomiting and then gradually proceed on to diarrhoea.

Meanwhile you can give him either domperidone or ondansetron.

Keep him well hydrated.

Please discuss these possibilities with your your pediatrician in get him appropriately evaluated and managed please.

My sons doctor said that this is likely an obstruction or blockage causing the vomiting. She suggested laxatives. What type of diet should he be on?

Hello... papaya is the best natural laxative.
Give him fibre rich food which is mostly available in greens fruits and vegetables which is mostly vegetarian diet.
Try to avoid red meat and non vegetarian which contains almost zero fibre.
Give him exclusively one litre of water a day.
