My Son Is 7months Old And Has A White Patch On The Chin

Question: Hello, My son is 7months old and has a white patch on the chin . it was pretty light when he was born however it can be differentiated now. Consulted pediatrician and have been said it would gradually reduce and might take upto 1 and half year. i would like to have another opinion so would be great to understand of it's of any concerns and needs treatment or any deficiency? currently we apply dermadew baby lotion thrice daily to the face. Also D3 and multivitamin drops are also given twice daily.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and I understand your concern.
Let me know whether he has any itching at the site ?
Whether it is increasing in size? Is there any flaking of skin?
If possible kindly attach a picture of the site so that I can help you more efficiently.
Waiting for your reply.

Hi Doctor,
I don't think he has itching as i have never seem him do that.
When it comes to size, no it's not however sometimes he gets some red boils on cheeks and we apply Atonide gel after which it goes way and leaves white patch. however that doesn't last longer.
On the white patch next to lip on right side sometimes the red boils do come and reduces , but not the white patch.
attaching the image for reference.

Hello,
Thank you for reverting back.
I have seen the attached image.
It may be Pityriasis XXXXXXX which is very common in kids.it often clears on its own within a few months, although discoloration can last up to three years.
Treatment involves daily lubrication with a good moisturizer such as Aquaphor, especially whenever the skin gets dry. Sometimes mild topical steroid creams help ( hydrocortisone 1% ) after dermatologist consultation.
Even with no treatment at all, the spots will disappear on their own — although it may take months to years.
Along with D3 you can also give calcium supplements to your baby after physician consultation.
Kindly consider deworming your baby once he turns 1 year old.
Other causes may be..
Birth mark
nevus depigmentosus
Vitiligo
Which need to be evaluated by a dermatologist.
Hope this helps,
Take care.
