Question: My son was recently diagnosed with Rocky Mountain spotted fever and has been on a 21day course of doxycycline and still feels bad. He also has been on Dexilant for 2 months and eats very little and constantly burps.. He also has headaches. How can he feel better?

Brief Answer:
Treatment of choice

Detailed Answer:
Dear parent, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but doxycycline is the only antibiotic treatment effective in this case, however I would recommend that he gets a blood test to assess kidney functions ( urea and creatinine) together with a blood test to assess liver functions ( SGOT and SGPT) to exclude damage to these organs . I hope you find this helpful

Is it safe to visit an allergist first without having these blood tests done. Reason being is that we are scheduled with an allergist in the morning because it was a lone star tick that bit him and a test came back low positive for a red meat allergy?
