My Uncles Leg And Face Is Swollen He Had Stroke 5
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your question.
Your uncle has a history of having stroke 5 years back. Presently his legs are swollen, and his feet is also swollen. I can understand your concern.
Your uncle's symptoms are indicative of developing heart problem.
Edema is a common symptom of heart failure, but it can also be caused by other underlying medical conditions.
With heart failure, fluid builds up because the body’s circulatory system is not operating as before. This is due to weakening or stiffening of the heart muscle.
Yes, heart problems can cause swelling of the feet and ankles also. It happens because heart problems interfere with the normal flow of blood, hence leading to fluid accumulation.
You are advised to get your uncle clinically examined by a Cardiologist. Get all required tests and investigations done like Lipid function tests, Blood sugar, Urinalysis, CBC, stress tests, echocardiography, EKG, X-ray, CT/MRI (if required), etc.
The tests and investigations are done to study in detail the pathology causing the symptoms. Your uncle's treatment will depend on the pathology diagnosed & the severity of the symptoms.
He will be given conservative treatment, physical therapy, diet control, exercises under observation, etc. Surgery is only recommended if there is no response to treatment.
This is not the time to keep your uncle at home, get him admitted in a hospital so that treatment can be started before the worsening of the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question. Take care.

Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.
I can understand your concern. It is good to know that you are taking him for clinical examination. Get all required tests & investigations done at the earliest.
He has history of getting a stroke & also has high blood pressure. The symptoms he is developing can be life threatening if not taken care of.
If there is no Cardiologist available at the place where he lives then you can get him clinically examined by a GP, get all screening tests done to detect DM, cardiac or kidney problem.
The treating doctor will diagnose the cause of the symptoms after studying details of the tests & investigations done. Thereafter, he will be given conservative treatment or referred to a Cardiologist or any other doctor for further management if required.
Surgery is only recommended when the response to treatment is not good. Get him treated before the worsening of the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your question. Take care.
