My Urine Analysis Showed My Testoserone/dhea Is Low. My Naturopath

Question: My urine analysis showed my testoserone/dhea is low. My naturopath is recommending I take a DHEA supplement. My PSA has never been very low, usually somewhere in the upper 3's. My concern is that taking can either give me prostate cancer, or if I have a very mild case of PC, it could make it worse. About a year I did a "Prostate cancer cell search" blood test, and it came back negative. She said the research does not support the cancer connection, and it is a very low dose, about 15 mgs. Should i take the supplement?
Brief Answer:
Please do not take the supplement
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
I see absolutely no reason to take such a supplement.
What problem, besides low DHEA in your urine, is it supposed to solve? It does not necessarily reflect serum-DHEA which is more important.
If your PSA is elevated for your age, I'd suggest you see a urologist for a transrectal ultrasound and biopsies. In fact, theoretically, testosterone supplements may aggravate growth of a prostate cancer.
Hope this helps.

My PSA for the last 15 years has hovered between 3.5 and 4. Is that high for a 66 year old?
Brief Answer:
No that is fine
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
A PSA between 3,5 and 4 is fine for you. Importantly, as you mention, a stable value for years pretty much rules out cancer.
