My Wife Aged 33 Getting Severe Pain Below The Chest Full Front Portion From Day Before Night
This may be an emergency. Please take her to a Hospital.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history well.
As per the history that you have given following are the possibilities , proper investigations and management:
Vomiting usually occurs as a reflex mechanism hence the cause has to be found out.
Such a severe pain in upper abdomen wherein the patient feels better only on sitting in a bending position, can be due to the following reasons:
Problem with liver or gall bladder, pancreas, pleurisy etc.
Gastritis can be the cause or associated problem.
Perforation of stomach or duodenal ulcer causes severe pain.
Pancreatitis.
Cardiac rarely
Hence I would suggest you the following:
Continue symptomatic treatment as is advised by your Doctor, may need some painkiller.
If there is no relief then it is better to get her admitted for intravenous fluids as persistent vomiting can cause dehydration.
Additional treatment for pain and specific treatment on finding a proper cause.
Ultrasound and X-rays of abdomen in sitting and lying down position
Better to get CT scan of abdomen as it covers lower chest too and gives better diagnosis.
Relevant tests of blood, urine, stool all add on for a proper diagnosis so that a specific treatment can be done.
Any other tests as would be advised, like ECG or so.
Since this may be an emergency it is better to be examined by a Surgeon and get admitted if advised, so that a proper diagnosis will lead to a proper treatment.
I hope this answer helps your wife to get an early diagnosis, proper management and cure.
