How To Overcome The Suffering From Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Question: My wife, aged 47 years is suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and GERD. We have consulted a Gastroenterologist and got endoscopy and colonoscopy done. There are no irregularities in the reports. The doctor had prescribed Meva C for around 3 months. Initially she had some relief but later on the same symptoms are continuing. We had consulted one more doctor subsequently and he suggested to take IMODIUM alternate days . She has been taking IMODIUM on alternate days for the last 3 months. There is definitely some relief but the problem is persisting.
Right now the main problem is that she has lot of bloating in the stomach if there is a gap of around 3 hrs between meals. Once she takes food after this, there is a tendency of bowels - although normally she controls that . On a regular basis she has bowels once a day but at times after 7-10 days, she has bowels twice. The main problem is bloating, feeling of fullness and discomfort associated with that. As advised by the doctor she has mostly items prepared from rice and avoids milk/wheat related food items and has very light food with minimum spices.
Please suggest suitable medicine/remedies. Also is it proper to take IMODIUM on regular basis - does it have any other side effects

Dear Doctor,
Her Haemoglobin level when last tested was 11.1
No test was done for Celiac disease
I have anyway attached the last reports for your reference. In Colonoscopy she was doagnosed with mild Proctitis which has been subsequently treated and that problem is no longer there.
The current problem is primarily IBS with bloating ( lot of gas formation).
Please suggest suitable medication
Thanks
