Question: My wife currently has a very swollen tongue. To breathe she has to stay calm. She has had a series of what seemed to be bug bites where a part of her face would swell, a cheek or her lip, as if it were bitten by something. It has always gotten better fairly quickly - a few hours - and then gone away within 24 hours. Yesterday it was her foot. But now it is her tongue. It seems unlikely that it is a bug bite. Thoughts?

Detailed Answer:
Hii. It seems like your wife is suffering from some allergic reaction specially angioneurotic oedema. Some causes are hereditary,by birth or some are acquired. Many people has lack of C1 esterase inhibitors. You should do a routine blood tests and find out what are the things she is allergic of. You can give some antihistaminic tablet when she suddenly suffers from such allergic reaction. You can do an allergic skin test to find out the cause. It's self limiting, decreases by own but be careful of she is having breathing difficulty as then she may require steroid nebuliser or inhaler.
