My Wife Is 47. After A Mild Drop In Her
Question: My wife is 47. after a mild drop in her hemoglobin from 10.3 to 9.8 her diabetes doctor proposed that she test her stool for blood. And the result came positive as attached. He has a clearly protruding hemorrhoids but she sees no bleeding at all. Apart from her grandma who died with stomach cancer, her family does not have any cancer history.
We will do a colonoscopy next week, but thought to know from you how could unvisibly bleeding hemorrhoids affect this attached test results, or it is mostly indicative of polyps or cancer?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
If the hemorrhoids are protruding and not obviously bleeding and the stool for occult blood is positive, then the source of bleed is only inside the colon.
The causes include polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer etc.
Colonoscopy will help to find the cause.

Dr.R.K.
