My Wife Is 67 Years Old And Has Had Severe
Question: My wife is 67 years old and has had severe and I mean very severe allergies to any and all fragrances used in any cleansers, perfumes ect as well as many outdoor allergies. She has not went to doctor about it because of her fears of the smells she will encounter. Very stubborn over the last two years she has had a horrible back ailment that has steadily increased. She has had horrible teeth issues as well with them falling out and she had decided to get dentures just prior to Covid but all plans for that went away. In the last week she has became increasingly sicker unable to set in a chair due to her back. She has virtually not eaten in 3 days. It is not Covid as we live in complete and total isolation. She threw up today and over the last few days has been unable urinate easily. She is drinking 16 to 24 ounce# of water a day.
She is not willing at all to go to a doctor or emergency room and would not have the strength to get out of our motor home and into a car if she was willing.
I know she needs a doctor but the allergies immediately chock her and her throat closes and she begins to throw up.
What can I do. We have been married since 17 years old #o know each other very well.

Brief Answer:
She seems sick
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Hope I can be of help to you today.
I am sorry about your wife in a difficult situation.
What kind of reaction does she have when she gets an allergy to smell? I meant she seemed very sick. She should be hospitalized and sent to an emergency to help her immediately. If you keep her at home it can be very dangerous.
Hope that I can help you please let me know if you have any clarification or questions, I would be welcome to discuss it with you further.

What do we do with the allergies to cleansers and odors. I am not exaggerating at all when she smells cleansers and such things as deodorant or hair spray her throat closes and she throws up and chokes this has progressingly worsened for years. Scared to enter an emergency room and we obviously have no other doctors. We are stuck in XXXXXXX Florida due to Corona. She has no temperature. Please advise how to handle also she will not go willingly.
Brief Answer:
For immediate management is Epinephrine
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you again for your question. Throat closes and throw up and choke this allergy affect to her breathing due to allergy cause her swelling airway (obstruction) for immediate management you can use Epinephrine but the adjunctive agent we advice to include H1 antihistamines, H2 antihistamine, bronchodilators, and glucocorticoids. To prevent it she should avoid the trigger that causes her allergy.
For patients who are not responding to initial measures, admission to an intensive care unit should occur without delay.
Hope I have answered your query. If you need any other clarifications, please let me know. Wish she has good health. Let me know if I can assist you further.
