
My Wife Returned From Guyana From A 1 Week Mission

Question: My wife returned from Guyana from a 1 week mission trip. A few days later she developed symptoms which resembled malaria. Blood tests do not indicate at this time malaria ,hepatitis or the flu. The symptoms have been on going for 8 days. Do you have another opinion on what this might be.We are not getting a good response from family doctor at this time.

Do not believe it is Lyme, fairly familiar with this. I guess could be dengue. My wife was given Mefloquine HCL 250 MG tablets before her trip as preventative but only took one for whatever reason. Blood tests are still inconclusive. Would it hurt or help if she started taking Mefloquine now? Blood work shows some liver tests elevated. She took the Mef. tablets on prior trips with no issue.
