Question: My wife was diagnosed with dysplasia polyps in October and the three were removed during a sigmoidoscopy. She will do a scheduled sigmoidoscopy each 6 months. And I am worried what if another series of polyps of the same nature will be found, does a similar removal during the sigmoidoscopy suffice or that will call for a surgey to remove the infected part of the segmoid itself?

Brief Answer:
If polyps are dysplastic only then removal of part of colon not needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

If polyps are having dysplasia only, then no need for removal of part of colon. However, if it shows XXXXXXX cancer, then removal of colon is required.

Hope this helps.
