My Wife, White Female Age 50, Throws Up Almost Everything

Question: My wife, white female age 50, throws up almost everything she eats and drinks and is nauseous most of the time. She can only keep food down by drinking very little which leads to dehydration. I'm sure she is malnourished also. This started the Fall of 2017 with just nausea. She had her gallbladder removed March 2018 when tests showed it was only 20% effective. She had complications and a stent put in her bile duct, and since then has lost 60 pounds, down to under 90 pounds. She has had at least three scopes, to explore digestive system with nothing found. She just had a gastric emptying study which also turned up nothing. No medication helps with the nausea. Other tests have all but ruled out cancer. We can't get back in to the digestive specialist until April. She takes about 10 medications, for nausea, anxiety, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and headaches. I can send a list if it would help. Any suggestions on what to check or what it might be?

Brief Answer:
Can be cyclic vomiting syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for asking query on this forum,
Have gone through your history in details.
As almost all tests are normal but patient is having symptoms the first diagnosis that comes to mind is Cyclic vomiting syndrome.
It is characterized by episodes of severe nausea may be accompanied by vomiting that have no apparent cause. Episodes can last for months and alternate with symptom-free periods however in some patients symptoms may be there for years. It's a rare diagnosis. The underlying cause of cyclic vomiting syndrome is unknown.
Some possible causes include genes, digestive difficulties(ruled out in your case) , nervous system problems and hormone imbalances(Prostaglandin) .Unfortunately the underlying cause of cyclic vomiting syndrome is unknown.

This is a complex disorder and you need to consult a Endocrinologist Neurologist and Gastroenterologist.
Few tests like serum prostaglandins and MRI/Pet scan of brain may be done.
As various tests are normal it's some thing rare so out of box thinking is necessary.
Hope i was helpful.
Thanks.
