Yes diabetic person can donate blood
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
If the blood sugar levels are staying within normal limits without medicine or insulin injections, then there is no need of these medicines.
Regular walk, exercise and diet control is important to keep normal blood sugar levels.
The person should regularly monitor his blood sugar levels at home with a glucometer. This will help avoid long term complications from diabetes.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

In normal time my sugar is around 130-160 level but when I eat sugar this increased, what should I do? Can I use medicine or avoid sugar?
Brief Answer:
Blood sugar levels normally vary with food intake
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
Blood sugar levels normally vary during day. When we are fasting for atleast 8 hours, then blood sugar levels are less than 125. After meals the levels can raise upto 180 mg. If the meals are sugary then the levels may even be higher. That is why we rely on fasting blood sugar levels or HbA1C levels to determine need for medicines. So let me know these two levels, so that I am better able to help.
Anyways , in newly diagnosed high blood sugar levels, diet and exercise alone is tried for atleast 3 months. Medicine is only taken when diet and exercise is not helpful in lowering the levels.

Brief Answer:
It is borderline- prediabetes
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
This reading is of prediabetes. It means borderline reading. You can try dietary control and regular exercise for 3 months and recheck these values in 3 months. Meanwhile also keep monitoring fasting blood sugars at home with glucometer. If on home monitoring, it increases beyond 126 regularly on atleast 3 consecutive readings, then medicine may be needed.
