Neck, Shoulder, And Pain On The Right Side Since Beginning
X-Ray indicates "There is moderately severe degenerative disc disease extending from
C3 through T1."
MRI Completed.
Doctor referred to specialist, however appointment isn't for two weeks.
In the mean time, can you interpret the attached MRI report, so that I can get a head start on understanding the problem?
My main concern is whether my cervical condition is disturbing any nerves, causing pain.
Finally, I haven't confirmed any repeatable evidence as yet, but something seems "off" with my bladder and I'm wondering if there is a connection.
Thanks for your help.
MRI shows compression of nerves in the neck region.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.
I have noted your clinical symptoms and also seen the MRI reports. As per reports, there is significant compression of nerves in the neck region, at two levels (C3-4 and C4-5). This can explain your symptoms such as neck, shoulder and arm pain.
Bladder symptoms are most likely not related to this, as there is no compression of spinal cord as per the report.
Treatment options include medicines, physiotherapy and neck collar in initial stages. For severe symptoms, epidural injections and surgery are the options.
I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,
