Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have read your query, viewed the images and here is my advice.

I can see a dry, scaly patch of thickened skin which is darker than the surrounding normal skin. It is Lichen Simplex Chronicus (LSC) or Neurodermatitis - thickened skin which perpetuates the desire to itch, itching in turn causing the skin to become thick /lichenified. So, it basically becomes a itch- scratch - itch cycle. I suggest you to use a moisturizer, frequently. Over that I suggest you to use a potent topical steroid e.g either clobetasol propionate 0.05% or Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05%, twice daily for 3-4 weeks. In addition I suggest you to take an oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10mg tablet once a day for symptomatic relief from itching.

Hi.

Pathophysiology of LSC is unknown, though, stress/ emotional disturbance often lies at the root of the problem on many cases. It is more common in patients who are atopic.
