Hi XXXXXXX,
Welcome to XXXXXXX
First of all how did she get this? Was there any injury?
Redness and swelling are suggestive of some infection.
Normally external application may be enough but since she is a small baby, she may put her finger with the ointment in the mouth.!
So it is better to give her some antibiotic by mouth for 5 days and use antibiotic ointment only in the nights when she is sleeping.
You have to watch out for the progress closely.
God bless
