Noticed White Discharge With Itching. Used Vaginal Tablets. Noticed Sore And Swollen Clitoris. What To Do?
Question: Hi there Doctors, i have had white discharge from my vagina last week n it caused itchiness n discomfort. Due to the itchiness n discomfort around my vaginal area, i did scratched it a lot. I went to the pharmacy n explained my condition n the pharamacist prescribed me with a one day treatment tablet to be inserted in my vagina n after the next day the white discharge is gone. After a few days, since yesterday i have been feeling sore n pain in my clitoris area n it is painful everytime i pee. When i check, my right side clitoris area is swollen, red n with some sort of like a pimple on my right clitoris. I would appreciate if any of u could advise me on any medicated ointment n antibiotics to help to cure it? Many thanks in advance.

From your given history, I can assume that white discharge with intense itching and discomfort is mostly due to vaginal yeast infection or candidiasis.
After that, clinical picture of painful swollen clitoris with some pimple over the skin is mostly suggestive of superimposed bacterial infection.
Other least possible causes are allergic reaction with soap/ detergent/ perfume or other bath products, inserting foreign objects, poor genital hygiene etc.
TREATMENT: With above condition, I treat my patient by following regimens:
1) Painkiller medication with antacid (like ranitidine etc).
2) Oral antibiotic (like ampicillin or combined amoxicillin-clavulunate etc)
3) Local application of cortisone 1% or anti-bacterial ointment like bacitracin.
4) Vaginal suppository with anti-fungal medication like fluconazole at bed time.
5) Local hot compression & maintain genital hygiene properly. Keep the area dry.
Kindly, consult with your doctor for one clinical examination and take complete prescription with proper direction of use.
In addition, some preventive measures can be helpful in your case:
1) Take anti oxidant (Vitamin-E, C, selenium, zinc, lycopene etc) supplements with diet. Drink plenty of water/ cranberry juice to flush out body toxin.
2) Do not touch/ wipe out genital area too much. Also avoid inserting objects or frequent clitoral stimulation.
3) Wear only clean & cotton underwear. Don't wear any tight fitting cloths or pants to avoid repeated friction/ irritation. Remove underwear at bedtime.
4) Don't use chemical cosmetics or detergent powder/ soap or perfume around genital area.
5) Avoid sexual relationship till the problem is resolved and practice protected sex in future.
