Hello.

Thanks for the query.

hCG is a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. It is usually secreted by the Placenta in a pregnant woman to help maintain a pregnancy and also produced by the pituitary gland in men and women.

hCG is known to have effects of thyroid hormones, which can aid in weight loss but there is no conclusive evidence. It may cause tremors, increased sweating, weight loss, diarrhoea, menstrual pattern changes.

hCG diet is known to suppress the hunger and other symptoms and signs of hunger, so that one can have a very low calorie diet. But, you need to know that excess weight loss by 'starvation' can cause a fatty liver and probably more liver damage as well as increase the risk of heart disease theoretically. Some research support increased risk of liver cancer though there is no conclusive evidence.

Phentermine is an appetite suppressant given to those who are morbidly obese or Body mass index more than 30 or 35. It can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, headache, weakness, constipation or diarrhoea as well. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) does not warn against liver damage from this drug.

Usually increased ALT or Alanine transaminase enzyme can be seen in liver disease and/or disease of muscle or heart. So it is advisable to get a thorough checkup to rule out Hepatitis, muscle disorders, get an Electrocardiogram as well to investigate for possible heart disease. Avoid alcohol intake as far as possible. Stick to a diet XXXXXXX in fresh fruits and XXXXXXX leafy vegetables. Drink plenty of water. Exercise daily.

Keep in touch and proper follow up with your Doctor and also discuss the risks of the weight loss therapy which should not weigh more than benefits.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be available for follow up queries.
