Question: Over the course of last month I've had a few cases of pink eye along with a terrible flu and war infection that lasted weeks. I was prescribed antibiotic eye drops and used them for the prescribed time but more than a week later, the corners of my eyes are still bloodshot and producing hard mucus in the corners every morning, although they eyes have improved overall. What's going on?

Probably a resistant bacterial conjunctivitis, follow the advice below.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I  reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I also reviewed the attachment.

Your symptoms seem to be related to a resistant bacterial infection. The hard mucus in the corners is a typical symptom of this infection.

Some advice that I can give to you is:

-Use a different prescription based eye drops. I generally recommend Tobradex in daily practice. Tobradex is a combination antibiotic and steroid used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes.
The usual dose is 1 or 2 drops in the eyes every 4 to 6 hours for the next few days and observe the progress.

-I suggest you wash frequently the area of the eyes.

-Applying a warm compress that has been soaked in water, to the eye

-Avoiding touching your eyes with your hands, use separate tissue/handkerchief for this

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards

Brief Answer:
Tobradex is a prescription based medication, a consult with your doctor is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

Tobradex eyedrops is a prescription based medication.

I wish I could help you with that but unfortunately, the prescription is beyond the scope of the online forum.

You should consult your doctor/any local physician for the prescription.

Hope I helped you.

Wish you all the best.

Thank you, this is helpful. Is there a way to receive this prescription for Tobradex without seeing a physician in person?
