Over The Past Year, I Have Tried Several Medications For

Question: Over the past year, I have tried several medications for insomnia. I have been on seroquel 50 mg for the past few weeks, and it has proven to be effective. However, my psychratrist told me I could not continue to take Seroquel because it had serious negative interactions with Geodon, the other medication that I take. She instead perscribed me 50 mg of trazedone to take instead, starting tonight. Will I be able to sleep on trazadone instead of seroquel?

Hello thanks for using ASK A DOCTOR service
Trazodone is a nice drug used for insomnia. The drug has great efficacy and you will be able to sleep with this drug. The drug has less metabolic side effects too.
In a day or two since you are shifting from Seroquel you might have some sleep issues but these will settle by own. Trazodone will help in sleep.
Thanks and Take care
