Pain In Ribs. Have Had A Non-functional Gallbladder, IBS, Hiatal Hernia, GERD. Tried Gluten. What Can Help?

Question: Hello. I have been struggling for four long years of attacks that cause a squeezing pain around my ribs, between shoulder blades, jaw, teeth, ears. I have had a non functioning gallbladder removed fifteen months ago. Still no relief. I have been diagnosed ibs, small hiatal hernia, gerd. I take prilosec and dicyclomine when needed. It feels like the dicyclomine does not work as well anymore. I do not have diarrhea or constipation, or any alternation between the two. It is as if something is trying to pass out of my body. I have had colitis last summer, my doc thought it was infectious, didn't think it was crohns. The inflammation was in my descending colon. I have four children and cannot live like this anymore. I never know when it will strike, some weeks several days, other weeks once or not at all. I have tried gluten and lactose free, to no avail. My honest opinion is that I know it s not ibs. I need to know what it could be. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy normal.
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in.
I have a strong feeling that you should see a cardiologist as this type of pain may represent Angina.
This is more likely if you are obese, have high blood pressure, you smoke or if your pain is associated with exertion.
I suggest you get at least one ECG ( Electrocardiograph ) done to rule out this possibility.
Please continue all your prescription medicine & do not change unless your diagnosis is final.
Please write back if you have any question. I will be glad to respond.
Hope you get well soon.
Take care.

Thank you for responding. I have had several EKGs as well as a sonogram of my heart and was told I was fine. I do have an innocent heart murmur. It definetkey has to do with my digestion/intestines. What els could t be? Crohns without diarrhea? Strictures? Thanks
Hi XXXXXXX
You are welcome here with all your questions. This is good to know that this is not related to your heart.
If you have no digestive symptoms & your endoscopy, colonoscopy both are normal, I don't think it can be related to crohn's disease or a stricture. Your hiatus hernia may well be causing all this trouble especially if it has increased in size. A General Surgeon may be the appropriate person to go to & to get further advise. At least he/she can do a good clinical examination to sort out other possibilities.
May God help you get the correct treatment.
Best of luck
