Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on -Ask a Doctor- service!

I understand your concern and would like to explain that your recent clinical symptomatology needs to be further investigated; as just only a mild chest tightness may be related to several causes.

First, if you are a middle aged male or even female, especially if you have coronary risk factors (like hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, you are a smoker, or have heredity for premature coronary artery disease) the first thing to be exclude is an expression of an upcoming cardiac ischemia scenario.

In this regard, a careful physical examination coupled with a resting ECG, and if necessary a cardiac stress test would be helpful.

Other issues to be differentiated could be, an esophageal spasm, gastro-esopgageal reflux or hiatal hernia, a musculoskeletal injury/inflammation (like costochondritis, etc,), a backbone degenerative disorder, etc. Indication for specific medical tests are necessary to be guided by your attending doctor in case certain suspicions are raised.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
