"At presentation, he complained of a three-day history of fever, chills, and generalized muscle aches, culminating in a one-day history of increasingly severe tightness and pain of his jaw, chest, and abdominal muscles. He stated that he was unable to open his mouth, complained of difficulty swallowing, and felt short of breath."

Hello. This is copied from another medical site, and is a point i make explaining to the doctors i see that says tetanus is lockjaw as first Sign.

You might be able to see my other question to you regarding the same issue
You answer perfectly. However. It happened again.
This time a scratch from my dog, just on the skin where the mail begins. It did not bleed so i thought nothing of it. Two days later the exact same symptoms as before (when i wrote you), when i got first bit by dog, and then the cut from shovel.
I got this cut thursday a week ago. There was no mark on my finger until the next day, when it become a little scratch like if there was dead tissue underneath. Symptoms began late saturday, with fascicuations in my lower arm, and developed to sore muscles as they would be after workout or inflamed muscles. Sometimes painfull like a pin or knife or a bruising
I have pictures of what the "wound " looked like.

I feel my symptoms are just like the intro i copied and pasted in here.

A year and Half ago my titers were 1.6
Noone understand that, because i habent had any other than vaccinations as a young boy.

Clarify; my jaw is not stiff. I can open mouth. I have also tried the spatula method, with a thing at the back of throat, and gag reflex happens. Not clenching of jaw.
Still. This is worrying and scary

Oh, and no fever btw. I feel that genralized sore muscles and fasciculations are the same as the example given.
I can not find any 3xplanation to why this start after the cut or bite.

Brief Answer:
I don't think it is rabies.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to " Ask a Doctor" service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

Since you can open your mouth, it is not rabies.

If the wound caused by your dog was also in contact with soil or rust, there is a possibility of tetanus, but a very small one.

A banal infection (common bacteria of the skin may enter the bloodstream in the wound) may cause transitory symptoms and anxiety surrounding this situation may amplify these symptoms.

Follow up with your Doctor, and, if he sees a necessity to do further tests for inflammation levels, tetanus, etc. do these tests.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.
