Please Advise How I Should Think Of The Lung Nodules And How Should I Proceed
Question: I am 72 years old in good health. I had a CT scan done for cardiac calcium score. The calcium score was zero. The scan also showed lung nodules the largest being 0.8 cm. I have attached the report.
Please advise how I should think of the lung nodules and how should I proceed.

I have gone through the CT report you have attached.
It has mentioned that you already had one CT scan.
And as compare that nodules are increasing in size.
Mediastinal lymphnodes are same.
These kind of nodules are seen with lung infection.
So my suggestion is to get done dedicated CT thorax with contrast.

The previous CT scan I had was 11 years back. The present scan was done only to get cardiac calcium score but they saw the chest also.
I have no symptoms like cough or weight loss.
1) Are the nodules in the lungs only.
2)The nodules were first found in 2004 scan. In 2011 scan, they became smaller. Present scan, they have become somewhat bigger.
But they have been there for 18 years.
3)Can the nodules be caused by autoimmune disease.
4) Will a Low dosage CT done for lung cancer screening do the job.
5)Please give your complete thoughts.

Over 30 years, I had lot of CAT scans for various reasons. Thus I am trying to reduce any radiation that I may get.
Can I get a low dose CT done for lung cancer screening instead of CT thorax with contrast that you have mentioned.
You mentioned nodules caused by lung infection. Can they also be caused by auto immune disease.
