Question: Please can you advice for the best Pain Killer for Prolapsed Spine disk L5-S1 causing L5 compressed Nerve root pain, this pain if often sharp and makes me cry out and hurts to walk, and is making me feel generally unwell. I am about to collect Codiene off my doctor but on looking online this isn't the best thing for nerve pain? over the counter Paracetamol & Ibuprofen are not working at all.

I have noted your clinical details. The best medicine to relieve nerve pain is pregabalin (Lyrica). For my patients, I use a dose of 75 mg once daily at night. If needed, the dose can be increased to 300 mg daily in two divided doses.
