Age: 36 Yrs/Female
Weight: 74 KGs
Height: 164 CM
Blood Pressure: 120/70 (It comes normal generally)
Hello,
Detailed Answer:
I saw your wife's reports. If we go through them one by one: haemoglobin is low. Normally It should be around 12, so 8.6 is quite low. WBC count which are also the type of cells in the blood is normal(they usually tell us about any infection in the body). Fasting blood sugar is also normal. Creatinine is a test for kidneys, which is normal and so is a test for urine. Even the readings for different forms of cholesterol and ECG report are in an acceptable range.
Blood pressure is normal and weight is slightly on the higher side ( BMI: AROUND 27, which is in the overweight category)
So basically out of the medical check-up done only abnormality detected is low haemoglobin which we call anaemia. We need to further do the workup for anaemia to find the reason and thus treat it.
First of all, I need to know if she has any complaints like tiredness, breathing difficulty, weight loss or weight gain, loss of appetite or pain in the stomach or vomiting. Also if there is any bleeding from any site and if her menstrual cycles are regular and normal. How are her bowel habits? Any past history of any medical illness.
Besides history, we need to carry out more tests like iron studies, blood film, stool examination, thyroid function h pylori ( bacteria in the stomach), and ultrasound abdomen. All this has to be properly analysed to reach some conclusion.
Meanwhile, she can work up on her diet, to take more green leafy vegetables, a lot of fruits , soybeans, dates, raisins etc. If taking non-veg can include sone meet and fish in the diet.
I hope your question is adequately answered. If anything else you can write back.
Thank you

hello. Thank you so much for writing back.
Detailed Answer:
Definitely, at a haemoglobin of 8.6, she will need medicine. But as I explained to you before, it is important to first identify the cause of the low haemoglobin, so that appropriate treatment can be started.
Normal haemoglobin is around 12 for females, so considering the normal value,8.6 is very low and requires treatment.
So it is better that you start the treatment once you know the reason. Meanwhile, focus on having a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet.
Hope your doubt is clear. Still if any issue you can always write back. Thank you
