Question: Hi i have this issue where when i open my mouth i can hear my heartbeat and people around me can too if they get close to my mouth and it happens only when my heart beats harder. Had an ECG done it was good and doc said its bizare but nothing bad. It sounds like a ticking or a mouse squeak. Please let me know if you know anything about that i'm very anxious. I'm 20 year old female, I have anxiety and I used to smoke up until recently.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety can be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I think that this can be related to anxiety you are having . It can't be especially related to opening the mouth.
There doesn't exist a condition that makes the heart beat more prominent while opening the mouth.
Taking count that ECG was normal there is nothing to get concerned about.
Anxiety can cause rapid heart rate which you may have noticed mostly while opening mouth.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks.

Hi, thank you so much for your answer!
So this ticking sound isn't related to any serios condition? It just started happening really out of the blue and I was concerned it might be related to carotid artery disease, i'm quite healthy and this is the only issue I have. Forgot to mention I do have health anxiety every time i get the slightest symptom. I just found it weird that i didnt hear that before and that i dont see it happen to other people as well. I cant really go to the gp right now, i can only go up to the 25th i just want to make sure. Its not a symptom of anything concerning? Hopefully its just my blood vessels hitting my cartilage as the doctor said.

Hi, thank you for replying, I deeply appreciate it! You sure did save me a lot of worries.
So my last question just to be clear, it's normal to hear a stronger heartbeat like that through the mouth when it beats a bit more aggressively?

Brief Answer:
See details below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
The pounding heart beats can be more soundly heard through neck , chest and throat that's why it looks like it sounds more in mouth.
