Question: Please review the attached report. There are two specific and one more general question. (1) Under Bone and Joint health, the value for ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE,
BONE SPECIFIC is 18.1 with a stated reference of 7.6-14.9 mcg/L. I've read elsewhere that the reference range is "Adults: < or =20 mcg/L" Should I be concerned? (2) Under the "Established Tumor Indicators" I see that AFP is 1.2 with a reference range of 1.6-4.5 ng/mL. I read elsewhere that "an AFP level of less than 10 ng/mL is normal for adults. Should I be concerned? (3) Would you scan the complete document, look for the red values (out of range) and comment on anything you see particularly remarkable. Appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Normal range of Alkaline phosphatase bone specific.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
1) you are having an Alkaline phosphatase bone specific of 18.1 mcg/L which is a normal level for your age and gender. In adult males the value of APH bone specific normal range isYou should not be concerned.
2) AFP is 1.2 ng /ml and a low value is not that significant for disease. It may show vitamin deficiency and you have vitamin D insufficiency.
In this case you may need to take vitamin D supplements and it will normalise the vitamin D levels and also AFP levels.
3) you have low iron saturation and iron levels on the lower limit of normal range so you may need to take iron supplements.
Also you have slightly low neutrophils and this possibly may be caused if you used corticosteroids recently. There is nothing that you should do about it.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
