Please Review The Image Of Kidney Stone How To Prevent It
Question: A week back I was feeling backache radiating to the groin, I was diagnoised with a kidney stone.
A CT scan revealed that there's a kidney stone of 8mm in the left ureter at the place of cross illiac veins.
I passed the kidney stone. Please review the image of kidney stone passed and let me know what causes this and how to prevent.

Based on the photograph and CT report that you have uploaded you have passed a stone called as Struvite stone which results from the the Urinary infection .
Following measures would help to prevent stone recurrence
1)Send the stone to laboratory that you have passed for analysis so that you would know the composition of stone and take measures to prevent recurrence .
2) Drink more water up to 4-5 liters of water in 24 hours to produce more urine .
3) Avoid using excess of salt in your diet
4) Avoid taking Red meat, Spinach ,Tomatoes, Milk products and other food that are rich in Calcium, Magnesium and phosphate .
5) Consult qualified Nutritionist for proper management of diet and foods top be avoided.
Stone formation is usually hereditary in nature .Drinking more water is the prime important factor to prevent stone formation .
There are many theories about food products to be avoided but non of them have scientific data to prove their claim.
