Question: Hell Doctor,
My TSH level is gone upto 9.46 and been prescribed Thyroxine but I have seen conflicting argument from other doctors to not to take such harmones as long as T3 and T4 levels are under control which is the case with me. Please my attached report.
My level 6 months ago were all normal, I also want to point out that I suffer from chronic post nasal drip allergy which keeps comes and go with seasonal change and for past 2/3 been it was on the rise. I take bilastine for my allergy managment.

Please suggest if thyroxone can be avoided and if there is any alternative supplement to control my TSH.

Brief Answer:
Anti TPO test

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have gone through your query and your attached results.

I can say that you are a heathy person.(considering your test results)

About your TSH results, i suggest to do a TPO test to understand if you have ant thyroid condition that explain these results.

Wish your results(high TSh and normal fT3 and fT4) you have a condition called subclinical hypothyroidism. It is most commonly an early stage of hypothyroidism.

I these cases the treatement should be considered only if you have symptoms of hypothyroidism like fatigue, weight gain ,infertility ,attempting pregnancy or abnormality of serum lipoproteins.

Hope i have answered to your query.
Best regards

Thanks you doctor, even I couldn't believe the first report so I had got another test done with more reputed lab and found that TSH was in 4.65, since i didn't have any abnormal weight gain or any other such symptoms.
But as you said, I will get the TPO test done too, to rule out any doubt. Since my B12/ Vit D level are low,
should I take B12 and Vitamin D supplement for a couple of months?

Brief Answer:
No symptoms-no treatement

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
I appolologise for the late reply.

If you don't have symptoms of hypothyroidism, you can be fine even without specific thyroid treatement if your TSH not increase more than 10UI/ml.

Anti TPO is recommended!

You can adjust your diet to increase your vit deficiencies and if this is not enough, than you can start e vit supplement.

Hope this helps.
Take care
