Posted on Fri, 27 Dec 2024
Question: Dear Sir,
For Last 9-10 days, I have been suffering from severe tonsilities. I have tried Azilide 500,CepodemXP 325, gargling with Disprin tablet, gargling with betadine(Mint Flavour) gargle andgargling with salt. But still I have swelled tonsils with acute pain. For reducing pain I have tried Zerodol Plain tablets and Zerodol SP Tablets and Hifnac P, but with no considerable results. It seems that medicines have stopped working for me. I feel immense pain in swallowing anything now be it food or saliva or water. There is immense pain in my throat for last several days. Due to irritation in my throat I keep vomiting and due to this vomiting today I have lost my voice also. I am allergic to peniciline family of drugs so I can't try that one.
Please help me sir, Please suggest me medicines to control my pain in throat.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
throat swab and asked for culture and sensitivity report

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Welcome to the healthcare services. If you have a microbiology laboratory nearby then you can give a throat swab and asked for culture and sensitivity report. It can be bacterial or viral infection also. You have to rule out bacterial or diphtheria or any viral infection. For now you can start with tablet augmentin 1 gm twice daily for 1 week. If the swelling increases or there is increased pain after1 week then you can add capsule clindamycin 600 mg twice daily for 1 week. Take hexidine gargle alternate with warm saline gargle. Take steam inhalation. Avoid spicy food, excess tea, coffee. You can take green tea. Avoid cold drink. Keep on taking more oral fluid preferably warm. Review after 1 week or if you have any queries.
